Winter (sports!)

Last week there were the first little hints of spring. I took Albi for a walk around the block without a jacket (whoop!) and the daffodils are in full bloom on our street. I'm sure we will have many, many rainy days ahead but the spring sunshine came just when I needed it! Despite the rain and cold, it has been a very sporty winter. Living Switzerland made us in some ways quite immune to beautiful views but Wengen was really next level-absolutely stunning!

(packing our ski things and this guy came for a major cuddle. Made me feel guilty to leaving him but we're so happy he enjoyed his stay at the pet hotel.)

Skiing under the north face of the Eiger in the beautiful sunshine was really something else. Sam and Leila (and Harry later in the week) went much higher up the mountain but I liked my group which took it easy and factored in regular coffee breaks! Leila and Sam are much more daring and often got to see each other on the harder slopes.

The kids both enjoyed being back on the pistes. Harry had his first week of snowboarding and although he was black and blue the first day, within a few days he was off the training pistes and absolutely crushing it. An older guy at the hotel joked that he'd joined the dark side and would never be back...think he was right!

We stopped in Frankfurt on the way home, which was a fun city. It was nice to break up the drive and see places that we wouldn't necessarily visit otherwise.

Harry is still loving rowing and his team are doing great, with many 1st place finishes. The competition season has really ramped up with a tournament most weekends. I never imagined he'd become such a big fan when he went for his first trial session but look at that smile!
